The Honda HR-V is getting older. Although the new crossover – mentioned in some parts of the world – has got a new face for the 2019 model year, it has been around for seven years.
Honda knows this and is currently testing the next generation HR-V, as the first time our spy photographers spotted in Europe last week. Although it gives fans of the nameplate hope, the American Honda Motor Co., Inc. confirms that the US will not get that spy vehicle – at least not the exact version you see in the photos here.

In a statement, US Honda said:
The development of a successor to the Honda HR-V for the US market is underway. This new HR-V is designed to cater to the different needs of US customers, and will differ from the Honda Fiber / HR-V introduced in other regions. Honda will have more information on the next generation Honda HR-V designed for the US market closer to launch.
This is not the first time Honda has produced a different version of the vehicle tag specifically for the North American market. The Honda Odyssey minibus is currently available in two versions – one larger, one compact – and has been so since the 90s.
That said, we’re looking forward to a very bright future for Honda’s subcompact crossover. The carmaker said earlier that it is increasing production of the HR-V as it kills the Fit, Civic Coupe and MT Accord after the 2020 model year, and that it has become the ‘new port model for the Honda brand, which is of significant use, performance offers, and value. “
