The United States on Friday again reported a new record for daily coronavirus deaths, rising above 4,000 for the first time.
According to a census on Thursday, the US recorded 4 085 coronavirus deaths Johns Hopkins University, at the top of the previous record of 3,865 drafted Wednesday.
Overall, the U.S. has reported 365,208 coronavirus deaths since the pandemic began. A prediction of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) predicts that 405,000 to 483,000 deaths will be reported by January 30.
The record comes as more states report new cases of a new, more aggressive strain of the coronavirus. Georgia and Pennsylvania both reported cases of infection this week regarding the variant.
Experts believe the strain is more contagious, but it is not believed to be more life-threatening.
Meanwhile, the US is intensifying its distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine after it started slowly. As of January 7, more than 5.9 million people have been given to them first vaccine doses.
