US Park Police union condemns ‘biased’ statements by politicians, media on reaction to Capitol

The US police union on Friday condemned ‘wrong’ stories and ‘biased news reports’ about the actions of officers amid the riot at the American Capitol on Wednesday.

Trade union officials claim that politicians from both parties used the police as political pawns.

“It is, to say the least, discouraging when our officials return home to see inaccurate and biased news reports featuring members of Congress from both political parties, who continue to use law enforcers as pawns in the political process,” said Kenneth. Spencer, chairman of the U.S. Park Police Fraternal Order of Police, according to the Washington Examiner in a statement.

Many Democrats, including President-elect Joe Biden, have claimed that some of the officers protecting the Capitol during the riots treated Trump supporters much better than Black Lives Matter rioters were handled by officials in recent months.

“No one can tell me that if it were a group of protesters from Black Lives Matter yesterday that they would not be treated completely differently from the mob that stormed the Capitol,” Biden wrote on Twitter on Thursday. “We all know it’s true – and it’s unacceptable.”

Liberal MSNBC host Joy Reid said Wednesday that, “White Americans are never afraid of the police, even if they are committing an uprising.”

“Even if they’re occupying our Capitol to steal the votes of people who look like me, because in their minds they own the land, they own the Capitol,” she said. “They own the police.
