US issues health warning

The United States has issued an order requiring incoming passengers to provide proof of a negative coronavirus (COVID-19) test or repair of COVID-19.

A health warning posted on the website at the U.S. Embassy in Barbados on Saturday said: “U.S. citizens in countries where adequate COVID-19 testing is not available, or may not meet the requirements, must leave immediately. or they are preparing to not be able to return to the United States until they can meet the requirements. ”

This follows recent action by Britain which said from 18 January that all travel with the UK would be suspended.

A media statement from the British High Commission said emergency measures were being put in place “to be in place for at least one month to protect the UK from new virus variants”.

Britain said ‘all international arrivals to the UK from any country (including British and Irish nationals) must now take a pre-departure test and isolate themselves for ten days.’

Furthermore, passengers ‘must complete a passenger tracking form and take a negative test before traveling to the UK, or they may be fined £ 500 each’.

The U.S. Health Warning Service also said: “The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) director has signed an order requiring all airline passengers traveling to the United States, including U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents (LPRs), to prove to deliver a negative coronavirus COVID-19 virus test or COVID-19 recovery.

‘As of January 26, all passengers in the United States aged two and older must submit a negative COVID-19 virus test taken within three calendar days of travel, or a positive test result and documentation from a licensed healthcare provider or public health official that he or she has recovered from COVID-19 in the 90 days prior to travel.

“Passengers must also prove under criminal law that they received a negative qualifying test result or that they were recovered from COVID-19 and medical permission to travel.”

The notice states that airline passengers who do not meet these requirements must board.

There is increasing concern worldwide as new coronavirus variants have been discovered in countries such as Britain, South Africa and Brazil. (PR / KG)
