According to a new poll, nearly half of U.S. front-line health workers have not been vaccinated for COVID-19.
The report, published Friday by the Kaiser Family Foundation, found that only 52 percent of health workers received at least one dose of vaccine, although in most communities they were among the first to receive the treatment.
Only 64 per cent of respondents said they had confidence in the safety and efficacy of vaccines, and 48 per cent had not yet been let down.
According to the poll, conducted in collaboration with the Washington Post, health workers are quoted as expressing a wide range of opinions about the vaccine, similar to those found in the general public.
“I would quit if the job told me I had to take it,” said one respondent in the survey.
“This is the only way we will get to the end of the pandemic,” said another.
The survey interviewed 1,327 front-line health workers in English and Spanish from February 11 to March 7. Frontline health professionals were defined in the survey as those with direct contact with patients or body fluids.
