US administers 72.8 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine: CDC

(Reuters) – The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said 72,806,180 doses of COVID-19 vaccine had been administered in the country since Saturday morning and 96,402,299 doses had been distributed.

The agency said the vaccinations for both the Moderna and Pfizer / BioNTech vaccines are Saturday at 6 p.m. Both Pfizer and Moderna vaccines involve two doses.

The CDC reported on Friday that 70,454,064 doses had been administered and 94,300,910 doses had been administered.

The agency said 48,435,536 people received at least one dose of vaccine as of Saturday, while 23,698,627 received the two doses.

A total of 7,043,540 vaccine doses were administered in long-term care facilities, the agency said.
