On Monday, we reported that Urban Meyer wants to coach $ 12 million a year in the NFL. Ian Rapoport of NFL Media calls this figure Tuesday ‘not relevant”(Whatever that means) and“ false ”.
‘I’m sure the former Florida and OSU coach will be well compensated if he Jaguars coach, ”adds Rapoport.
It’s clear what’s not relevant: Whatever Rapoport is or is not ‘sure’ about whether Meyer will be ‘well compensated’ or not.
What does ‘well-compensated’ even mean? Compared to whom?
The attitude conveyed in the message is not surprising, considering that it ultimately comes from a media store owned and operated by the NFL. Coaches are not paid what they are worth. Their salaries did not grow by an amount commensurate with the players’ salary ceiling. The total remuneration paid to the best coaches remains invisible, in part to prevent fewer coaches from wanting more than they get.

Some may say that his record in the state of Ohio and Florida has nothing to do with the NFL (or that the apparent torture he experiences at the college level in the NFL will only get worse), if an NFL team thinks he has the answer is, $ 12 million a year is a lot more than fair amount, given the significant impact a good coach can have on a professional football team.
