Recent leaks for Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 6 seem to indicate a massive open world and an announcement, but they have no credibility.
Leaks for the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 originated all over the place, even if it was a resounding ‘no’ or it really was. Rockstar does not have much incentive to make Grand Theft Auto 6 given at the moment GTA 5a sustained success, and although it virtually guarantees that actual leaks or announcements will not occur soon, some people still use the opportunity to enchant stubborn fans.
Granted, some of those stubborn fans were searching Grand Theft Auto 5 and even Red Dead Redemption 2 looking for possible tips or Easter eggs that would leave Rockstar in place. To be honest, these particular leaks surfaced on March 29, 3 days before Fools Day, so it would not be unusual for one person to intentionally fake the leaks. Either way, they do not have much evidence to support them, so fans as well as gamers should ingest them with a heavy side of salt.
The biggest claim of the leaks is a fully realized “Project America” that allows the player to travel to five different cities, with a sixth city currently under development. The new map apparently also contains the current map of Grand Theft Auto 5. The leak also puts it Grand Theft Auto 6 is finished and may arrive earlier than expected. The poster ends it with a preliminary ‘get ready’.
Dedicated followers of the leaks around Grand Theft Auto 6 will probably remember the title “Project America” from leaks that arose in 2019. The leaks, in addition to more than one city, also introduced the possibility of a female protagonist. Of course, a large amount of the leaks around have been confirmed untrue, and since Rockstar will not be allowing the curtain to end soon, it’s best to consider it as it probably is – an early April Fool’s joke.
That said, Rockstar is taking its time to announce properly Grand Theft Auto 6 is not a bad thing at all. With the rocky launch of the expected competitor Cyberpunk 2077 launching CD Project Red in a sea of complaints and refunds, fans already want Rockstar to take its time to make Grand Theft Auto 6. Part of what the failed launch took into account was the announcement almost a decade before, so chances are Rockstar wants to avoid a scenario so completely.
