Universal Studios Japan presents virtual tour of Super Nintendo World

Universal Studios Japan has hosted a virtual web tour through its highly anticipated Super Nintendo World theme park. This follows a finalized map of the park that was released about two weeks ago.

The virtual tour takes visitors through the expansive theme park, which is brought to life by its live tour Super Mario-theme architecture and animated videos of rides in motion. Attractions such as Mario Kart: Koopa (Bowser’s) Challenge and Yoshi’s Adventure are shown, which are part of the first phase of Super Nintendo World. The former has a massive staircase next to a stone statue of Bowser. There will also be augmented reality, projection maps, screen projection videos and other special effects integrated into the Mario Kart theme rides, most of which interact with magnetic Powerup Bands that visitors get as they enter the amusement park. The wristbands not only enable ride functions, but also retain a number of classic rankings and other point-based systems such as coins and stars. In addition to Mario Kart: Koopa (Bowser’s) Challenge and Yoshi’s Adventure, tour visitors walk through a playground, Kinopio (Toad’s) Cafe, Pit Stop Popcorn, Yoshi’s Snack Island and the 1-Up Factory gift shop. According to sources, Super Nintendo World has so far invested more than 6 billion JPY (about $ 56 million USD) in the project.

Super Nintendo World opens on February 4th. Visit the theme park’s dedicated website for the virtual tour.
