Super Nintendo World, the theme area Mario and friends at Universal Studios Japan, would open on February 4 next month, but due to the state of emergency declared in Osaka, it will not be so.
This is not the first time the park has been delayed. It was originally planned for the summer opening in 2020, but in the wake of last year’s emergency pushed back.
The latest announcement was made earlier today on USJs official website:
The grand opening of Super Nintendo World has been postponed.
We will announce the new grand opening date soon after the state of emergency of Osaka prefecture is lifted.

As covid-19 cases in Japan, a state of emergency, continue to increase has been declared yesterday for Osaka and the surrounding prefectures. It comes after a similar announcement wash made last week for the greater Tokyo area and as a new variant of the novel coronavirus was recently discovered Haneda Airport.
