Universal Orlando removes Dr. Seuss books from gift shop, considers park changes

Universal Orlando has removed some of Dr. Seuss’s books from its gift shops and is considering further changes to the resort after it was announced that some books from the author’s collection will no longer be offered due to racist and insensitive imagery.

Dr Seuss Enterprises, the body that preserves and protects the author’s legacy, announced on Tuesday that it will stop publishing six of the author’s well-known books, including ‘And to Think That I Saw It in Mulberry Street’ and ‘ If I Ran the Zoo, ”because they ‘portray people in hurtful and wrong ways’.

The books in question are being presented in an area known as Seuss Landing, according to Spectrum News in Universal’s Island of Adventure theme park. The children’s area is known for its characters and sights inspired by the world created by Dr. Seuss born Theodor Seuss Hostage.

“We have removed the books from our shelves as requested, and we will also evaluate our experience in the park,” a Universal spokesman said in a statement to FOX Business.
