United Airlines is investigating the leak of flight information from Senator Ted Cruz, Texas, for a trip to Cancun, Mexico, earlier this week, Politico reported.

“It is against United’s policy to share personal information about our customers, and we are investigating this incident,” a company manager told Politico in a statement, adding that whoever leaked the information, can be dismissed.

Cruz suffered a setback this week as he traveled with his family to Cancun while Texas was plagued by a winter storm amid a devastating eclipse. As millions in the state have lost power and been forced to live in icy conditions without heat, water or electricity, the senator left for Cancun with his family on Wednesday.

In an initial statement Thursday, Cruz said he was traveling because he wanted to be a “good dad” and added that he planned to return to the US that afternoon.

“With the cancellation of school for the week, we asked girls to take a trip with friends,” he said. “Because I wanted to be a good father, I flew with them last night and flew back this afternoon.”

An Editor at Thrifty Traveler tweeted which is apparently Cruz’s flight information showing the senator planned to travel back Thursday afternoon. But Edward Russell of Shift tweeted that he spoke to a source from United who said Cruz only returned ET at 6 a.m. Thursday and would originally return Saturday. Peter Alexander of NBC also confirm the schedule changes.

A series of text messages apparently sent out by Cruz’s wife, Heidi, also indicated that the family was planning for a longer getaway.

“Anyone can or want to leave for the week?” said one of the texts, obtained by Insider and other news outlets. “We can go to Cancun, there’s a direct flight at 445pm. And hotels are able. Seriously.”

In another text, Heidi Cruz appears and says in the group conversation, “The Ritz Carlton has rooms for about $ 300 and we’ve been there many times, and there were no problems with the property.”

It continued: “I will confirm that we have to call the hotel to confirm this, but you only test when you arrive there 3 days before you return.”

According to The New York Times, at least 58 people have died as a result of the storm in areas stretching from Texas to Ohio. More than 14 million Texans have been told to boil their water since Friday after the storm took water treatment facilities offline, and President Joe Biden declared a major disaster in the state on Saturday, unlocking millions of dollars in federal funding to 77 counties.

Cruz drew harsh criticism from Democrats that he left the state amid the power outage. Former Texas congressman Beto O’Rourke, who challenged Cruz in the 2018 Senate midterm elections, jerked him off for a vacation at the moment in Cancun when people literally froze in the state he was elected to represent and serve.’

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, New York, reiterates her demand that Cruz resign.

“If Senator Cruz had resigned in January after trying to help a violent uprising kill several people, he could have taken his vacation in peace,” she said in a tweet. “Texans must continue to demand his resignation.”
