We’ve seen some great ports on Switch, the latest of which is exceptionally good DOOM Eternal. While we know that Nintendo’s console is not as powerful as Sony and Microsoft’s latest generation hardware, it’s clear that in the right hands it can still offer impressive titles.
However, not every game is destined to come to Switch, and it would seem that it Desperados III – which is currently available for PS4, Xbox One and PC – is one of those games. Mimimi Games design chief Moritz Wagner was recently asked about the potential of a Switch port and answers:
So we also like the Switch, especially our boss – he’s a big fan. I do not think it’s going to work. We’re been trying this for quite some time. This is something that always pops up again. Sometimes THQ likes: ‘Well, we can investigate these people. Maybe they can make a gate.
The thing is that the game is very demanding – especially the CPU, which is a big problem for the normal consoles that are already running this game. What would you sometimes not believe because it’s not Red Dead or something, right?
… I do not think it’s going to happen. I hope this can happen at some point. We always reevaluate it when something new comes up, but the game just does not work. Maybe there’s a newer version of Switch that’s a little more powerful – it’s something we’ll look at again. I’m not quite sure if they’re looking for anything right now, but unfortunately not in the near future.
Were you hopeful that we would see Desperados III on Switch?
