EL PASO, Texas – The University Medical Center of El Paso said it would register for the first doses of Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine, which had just been received, at 6 p.m.
Registration will open at 18:00 at UMCelpaso.org for those in categories 1A and 1B, which includes health care workers, first responders, anyone 65 and older or others with certain underlying health conditions.
A UMC spokesman said all 4,000 vaccination appointments would be completed within minutes.
The UMC website only accepts registrations until all open appointments have been scheduled. After that point, the site will close access.
In addition, UMC is holding a special appointment registration Thursday at 9 a.m. “super seniors” – those 70 years and older.
At that point, ‘super seniors’ can register online at UMCelpaso.org or by calling 915-200-2700. Both the phone number and the website will close after the appointments are available on Thursday.
There are 1,000 appointments available online for “super seniors” online and 1,000 available by phone, officials indicated.
UMC has noted that these two events will be one of their last online registration opportunities as they work with the city of El Paso over the next few weeks on a consolidated registration process.
