Ukrainian man invents murder in attempt to clear snow police Ukraine

A Ukrainian man has admitted to a fictitious murder in the hope that police will clear his snow-covered road when they arrest him, local authorities said.

The man called police Saturday night to tell them he had killed his mother’s partner by stabbing him in the chest.

“But at the same time, he immediately warned the police that they should come with a snow plow because there is no other way to get to him,” Yuliya Kovtun, a police spokesperson, said on Monday.

According to her, officers did not take a snow plow and they were able to reach the man in a sports utility vehicle.

‘Immediately after arriving, they discovered that the family member was indeed at home, but in one piece and unharmed. No one attacked him, ‘she said, adding that the’ killer ‘immediately admitted that he had made a false call.

According to Kovtun, municipal services plowed the road earlier Saturday, but he was not satisfied with the quality of the cleaning.

The man, from the town of Grybova Rudnya, faces a fine of up to 119 hryvnias (£ 3) for reporting a false complaint.

Ukraine has set a record of snowfall over the past few days, with about 50 cm (20 inches) covering a large part of the country.
