Irwin Rivera, a fighter in the UFC’s bantamweight division, was arrested Thursday, according to online records from the Sheriff’s Office in Palm Beach County, Florida.

Details about the arrest and incident were later revealed via a police report obtained about Eric Kowal from MyMMANews, and it is appalling.

Irwin Rivera allegedly stabbed sleeping sisters

According to the report, officers who responded to several 911 calls found Rivera’s sister lying next to a driveway full of blood and wounds lying in her back, head and arm and two collapsed lungs. The sister allegedly claimed that her brother stabbed her and that her sister was still in the house.

The officers apparently found the other sister in a home with similar wounds. She reportedly said she and her sister visit Rivera and spend the night in his spare room, only to wake Irving by stabbing them.

Two neighbors allegedly made affidavits that one sister knocked on their door while begging, “He’s trying to kill me, please help my sister.”

Rivera reportedly fled the scene and was eventually picked up by police, to whom he admitted beating his sisters with a copper knife after being told to do so by a higher power. The report states that Rivera is charged with attempted murder.

According to Palm Beach records, Rivera was booked at 12:08 p.m. ET in Palm Beach’s Main Preservation Center. No connection for the 31-year-old has been established.

A UFC official confirmed to MMA Fighting that the promotion is aware of the allegations against Rivera:

“The UFC is aware of the recent incident with Irwin Rivera and has subsequently received information from his management that he is exhibiting behavior that is consistent with mental health issues,” the statement read. “The allegations are extremely worrying and the organization is currently gathering additional information. The investigation continues and all possible subsequent steps, including disciplinary steps or medical assistance, will be determined after that. Furthermore, the UFC has informed the management of Rivera that he is not going to be offered a match at the moment. ”

Rivera fought less than a year with the UFC and in 2020 passed with three in two fights. Prior to his UFC career, Rivera was the bantamweight champion of the Florida-based Titan Fighting Championships.
