UFC fighter Irwin Rivera said officers said ‘higher power’ to stab sisters: report

UFC fighter Irwin Rivera’s arrest report outlined the gruesome scene of Florida officers and the strange statements the mixed martial artist gave to arresters.

According to the arrest report obtained by TMZ Sports, officers responded to a call in Boynton Beach. Officers responding to the scene found a young woman, 22, with blood on the road and found another woman, 33, in the home. Both women apparently suffered stab wounds. No woman was identified.

Respondents searched the area and eventually found Rivera in his clothes full of blood. The UFC fighter told officers, “I killed my sisters.”

According to police, Irwin admitted that he “stabbed both his sisters” with “a brass knife.” Officials said Irwin told them he did it because “it was his goal, which was told to him by a higher power.”

Rivera was arrested Thursday at 12:08 p.m., at the Main Detention Center in West Palm Beach, according to online arrest reports from Palm Beach County (Fla.) Sheriffs. He is charged with two counts of premeditated murder. No connection information has been posted yet.

The UFC has issued a statement on Rivera’s situation. A UFC official has stated that Rivera’s career will be on hold pending an investigation.

“The UFC is aware of the recent incident with Irwin Rivera and has since received information from his management that he is exhibiting behaviors that are consistent with mental health issues,” the UFC said in a statement. “The allegations are extremely worrying and the organization is currently gathering additional information. The investigation is continuing and all possible next steps, including disciplinary action or medical attention, will be determined after the case. Furthermore, UFC has the management of Rivera informed that he would not be offered a fight at this time. ‘

Rivera would fight a battle in March. He has not been fighting since October.
