UFC 259: Longo explodes Sterling’s ‘mentally flawed’ critics, Yan’s ‘execution style’ knee strike

We all witnessed the unfortunate end of UFC 259’s first title fight between Petr Yan and Aljamain Sterling. Yan’s knee attack to the temple of a knocked down Sterling led to a premature interruption of the match at the fourth point of 4:29.

Sterling was subsequently awarded the victory by disqualification along with the undisputed bantamweight title, to his displeasure. But more opponents immediately piled up Sterling after the fight, accusing him of hammering it to victory.

Sterling’s coach, Ray Longo, sat down with MMA Junkie on Monday. First, he ran after the critics.

“People who think this man is falsifying it are mentally flawed in many areas,” he said. ‘Because I left him, he threw me into the house. And by the time I left, he was going to sleep, but I think they cleaned him up when he got back from the hospital.

“It was an angry shot. It was blatant. ”

Longo then draws his attention to Yan and the illegal knee attack, which still bothers him 48 hours later.

“Why would the man be the champion,” Longo said. ‘It’s not even a valid excuse:’ Do I know the rules or do I not know the rules? “There were no hands involved, the man was just a well-founded opponent. Mark Smith said he is grounded, everyone told me.

“You really have to talk to Yan and find out what will force him to do so. Nor was it the heat of the moment. Because there had to be ten Mississippi while he had his hands on his head. And he decided to send his head to outer space with his knee. ”

‘It’s quite sad. I hope Aljo is fine. I do not know why the man would do that. As sometimes, in the heat of battle, I completely understand it. But it was an execution style. ‘

If it belongs to Longo, Sterling will return it with Yan as soon as possible. ‘Funkmaster’, however, has another idea in mind.
