TWST: ‘Green Arrow and the Canaries’ Spinoff Series Canceled

Arrow -

This time last year, fans said goodbye Arrow, DC’s long-running flagship series on the CW. But many of us were excited about it Green Arrow and the Canaries, a planned spin-off set as a backdoor pilot episode in Arrow‘s last season.

But unfortunately, the CW decided not to record the series. “They are very active in talks to see what we can do,” said CW President Mark Pedowitz. The series could find a second life on HBO Max. “I’ve talked to Warner Bros. a lot, we have a strategy in place – hopefully we can make it happen.” This seems unlikely, as the options for the casting contract expired last year and have yet to be renewed.

Green Arrow and the Canaries was a women’s centric series in 2040, following the daughter of Oliver Queen, Mia Queen / Green Arrow (Katherine McNamara), while collaborating with time – traveling Canaries Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy) and Dinah Drake (Juliana Harkavy). McNamara tweeted the news, saying she was “saddened” by the cancellation and thanked fans for their support.

With Super girl on his way to his last season and Canaries cancellation, women-driven DC series are getting a bang. But with new series like Wonder Girl on the horizon, there is still hope that the future of the CW’s superheroine will lead. And of course, there’s always HBO Max.
