Two Yemeni men on the FBI’s terror watch list have been arrested at the border

Two Yemeni men on the FBI’s terror watch list have been arrested in recent months for entering Mexico illegally, federal authorities said Monday.

The men, aged 33 and 26, burst near the Calexico Port of Entry in California on January 29 and March 30, respectively, according to Customs and Border Protection.

The older man was found with a SIM card under the insole of his shoe, CBD said.

According to government records released after both men were captured, they were on a government watch list for terrorist suspects and on a list without a fly.

CBD did not disclose the men’s identities.

The terrorist watch list includes people who, according to the FBI, ‘are known or reasonably suspected of being involved in terrorist activities’.

The news of the arrests comes as the number of migrants en route to the U.S.-Mexico border has increased since President Joe Biden took office. This is a challenge for his government because it works to house underage minors who turn up in large numbers.

Last month, Republican lawmakers visiting the southern border said, citing customs and border protection agents, that some suspected terrorists were on their way to the intersection.
