Two men with parachutes jump from the roof of a hotel in Nashville

Hotel security told police that two men approached the roof bar list on the 25th floor of the hotel on Friday night and jumped off, according to an incident report from Metro Nashville police.

When the men jumped, customers started shouting at the bar and according to the police report there was a ‘mass panic’. Witnesses looked over the edge of the building and saw the two men parachuting across the road to an adjacent parking lot. After landing, they reportedly got into a parked car and drove away.

A patron at the bar video footage posted of the incident on social media.
BASE jumping is an extreme sport and BASE is an acronym for build, antenna, team and earth. Unlike parachutists who parachute from airplanes, BASE jumpers practice their sport from fixed points such as skyscrapers, cliffs or bridges.

The hotel security told police they believe the men may have been guests at the hotel, and according to the report, the video of the incident was provided to police. The men’s identities are unknown.

The rooftop bar is open to both hotel guests and local patrons. The hotel chain confirmed that the two men were hotel guests in a statement.

“The hotel immediately involved local authorities, after which the guests were evicted and the hotel banned,” the statement said. “We strongly condemn this reckless conduct, and further questions regarding this situation may be directed to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.”
