Two escaped prisoners in Florence captured in Coolidge

FLORENCE, AZ – Two escaped inmates from the Arizona State Prison Complex-Florence have been arrested, officials confirmed.

The Coolidge police station received several calls from residents on Thursday referring to the escaped inmates.

Authorities have been searching for David Harmon and John Charpiot since the two escaped from Florence State Prison on Saturday.

Police reported on Facebook on Thursday morning that the two had been arrested and are awaiting transport back to the Department of Corrections.

According to the Arizona Department of Corrections, Charpiot was convicted of molesting a child and sexually abusing, and entered the prison in 2011 to serve 35 years. Harmon was jailed in 2012 and has served a total of 100 years. His convictions include kidnapping and second-degree burglary.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety said in a tweet Tuesday that Harmon and Charpiot tried to rob a business in Florence on Saturday. The couple apparently changed their appearance when they tried to evade authorities.

A reward of $ 70,000 was offered for information that led to the capture of the men.
