Two drive-through COVID-19 vaccination sites opened Sunday in Broward County, 3rd opens Tuesday

DAVIE, Fla. – Elderly 65 and older in Broward County who were lucky enough to make an appointment and now get a COVID-19 vaccination in 2 places, with a third opening on Tuesday.

Drive through sites that are now open, by appointment only, include:

>Tradewinds Park, 3600 West Sample Road, Coconut Creek. 08:00 to 16:00 Sunday to Thursday, closed Friday and Saturday.

>Vista View Park, Southwest 142nd Avenue, Davie. 08:00 to 16:00, Sunday to Thursday, closed Friday and Saturday.

On Tuesday, vaccinations will start at:

>Markham Park, 160001 West State Road 84, Sunrise. 08:00 to 16:00 Sunday to Thursday, closed Friday and Saturday.

People are warned not to show up at the sites unless they have an appointment. Those who were without an appointment on Sunday morning were turned down.

It was a struggle for the elderly to find a place despite tens of thousands of other vaccines arriving in South Florida.

The Florida Department of Health on Broward County’s website to make an appointment was up and running again Sunday morning after being a few days lower, but by 9:30 it was offline again with the message: ‘We sincerely ask for excuse. This site has been removed for maintenance to better serve you. Thank you.”

The Department of Health has issued a statement on the appointment:

If you notice that the site has been corrected, that there are no appointments available, you should visit it regularly as we increase the number of vaccination sites for the elderly in Broward County in the coming weeks.

If you have previously registered, you should have received an email confirmation. Please check your spam or junk email. For all future appointments, a confirmation email will be sent within 48 hours of registration.

Individuals receiving a first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine will automatically receive an appointment for the second dose 21 days later.

Vaccinations are available for free, but you must have an appointment to show up at any of the newly opened transit sites.
