Two border Democrats announced their retirement before the 2022 cycle amid the growing border crisis that the Biden government is having trouble getting under control.
Rep. Filemon Vela, D-Texas, has announced that he will not run for re-election as his border crisis escalates and redistribution in the state of Texas threatens.
Vela is the second Democrat to announce her resignation after the 117th Congress, joining Arizona Democrat Representative Ann Kirkpatrick, who announced her resignation earlier this month.
Both members have districts along the U.S.-Mexico border in states where Republicans want to take seats in the midterm elections in 2022. Their pensions come as President Joe Biden experiences an immigration crisis on the southern border over which his government struggles to control .

Vela confirmed his resignation on Monday and said in a statement that he would work on efforts to keep the Democratic majority in both houses of Congress.
“I will not run for re-election to the House of Representatives in 2022,” the Texas Democrat said. “I will continue to focus on maintaining a Democratic House and Senate majority in my capacity as a member of Congress and Vice-Chair of the Democratic National Committee, while working diligently for the people I am so grateful to represent.”
His announcement comes the same day when his fellow Democratic representative, Texas, Henry Cuellar posted photos illustrating the conditions inside the trek house in Donna, Texas – the area of the Lone Star State that Vela represents.
Calvin Moore, communications director of the Congressional Leadership Fund (CLF), which is committed to electing Republicans to the House, said people should expect more Democrats to follow the leaders of the legislature.
“House Democrats are on the run because they know their worse border crisis and the socialist policy agenda will cost them their majority,” Moore said. “Expect more Democrats Kirkpatrick and Vela to follow in an early retirement than a 2022 defeat.”
Neither Vela’s office nor Kirkpatrick’s office responded to Fox News’ questions about whether the border crisis played a role in their retirement decisions.

The retirements of the two legislators came when Biden was still fighting for control of the situation on the Southern border.
Photos from Cuellar’s office showed the Biden government placing migrants in clear pens. Democrats blame former president Donald Trump for the crisis and say the former president has left them in a bad situation.
