Twitter plans to review its policies regarding world leaders, and he seeks input on what these policies should look like. Twitter is holding a survey from March 19 to April 12 and it says it generally wants to know ‘whether it’s not [the public] believe[s] world leaders should be under the same rules as others on Twitter. ”
The survey gives you a hypothetical situation and a list of possible actions it should take. It also raises questions such as whether leaders should experience more, less or the same investigation as other accounts, and whether it would be good if the platform banned a sitting president or prime minister.

Twitter’s current rules for world leaders took place in October 2019, but a lot has happened since then. In January 2021, Twitter banned then-US President Donald Trump for his tweets encouraging the Capitol gang. The ban follows months after the platform tried to figure out how to deal with him and other world leaders from Venezuela and Brazil who tweeted incorrect information about the coronavirus.
Of course, Twitter will not just take the public’s input and work with it. The company also says it will consult “human rights experts, civil society organizations and academics” from around the world. Twitter also plans to launch the recording in 14 different languages, but it is currently only available in English. If you want to weigh in, you can take the survey here.
