Twitter users plan to bury platform after unveiling paid subscription feature

The world has been asking the microblogging and social networking service for a edit button for years, but there is still no way to go back and fix bugs when the blue “Tweet” button is pressed. What they did give us was a paid subscription service.

The leaders at headquarters obviously have the “why is Twitter free?” tweet all too literally because they officially announced ‘Super Follows’ on Thursday. The payment feature gives users the opportunity to charge their followers and access additional content, according to Jacob Kastrenakes of The Verge.

The additional content could include bonus tweets, access to a community group based on what followers are interested in, or even a newsletter subscription, as reported by Kastrenakes. Similar to OnlyFans, it enables people to pay creators directly for the content they publish.

“We also think that a publicly funded model, where subscribers can directly fund the content they value most, is a sustainable incentive model that aligns the interests of creators and consumers,” Dantley Davis, Twitter- head of Twitter, said.

Although I believe that the people I follow are quite warm from time to time, I would absolutely not pay to read it. And the rest of the Twitter community clearly agrees with me.

The news tended to ‘RIP Twitter’ and ‘MySpace’, with millions of people announcing that they would return to Tom as Jack Dorsey clearly lost it.

RIP Twitter, we had a great run.
