According to Twitter, the automated technology made a “mistake” with the suspension of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.)’S bill for 12 hours, which according to her office started around 1 a.m. Friday.
Why it matters: Greene’s office claimed on Friday that Twitter had given “no explanation” as to why the account had been suspended. A Twitter spokesperson told Axios on Friday that our automated systems have acted coercively on the account it is incorrectly referring to.
The whole picture: A decision set Friday to oust Greene from the House, led by Representative Jimmy Gomez (D-California), has more than 70 cosponsors. But the measure is a long shot without Republican support.
- Greene has already been removed from her committee assignments. She also caused several upsets in the house by asking that the motions be postponed while business still had to be done, which demanded time-consuming votes.
- Greene, whose account was also suspended in January, suffered setbacks due to her controversial comments and previous support for the QAnon conspiracy theory.
