Michael Chiesa remained perfect in the welterweight division on Saturday when he beat Neil Magny in the UFC on the ESPN 20 main event.
Chiesa (18-4 MMA, 11-4 UFC) extended his run in the division to 4-0 when he scored a sudden unanimous decisive victory over Magny (24-8 MMA, 17-7 UFC) in the header, which aired at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi and on ESPN2.

Chiesa probably needed the removal to win, but it was perhaps the most polished I have seen.

Early removal from Chiesa to start round 2, but Magny keeps his balance and he has an undercut. # UFCFightIsland8

Magny worked hard to get back on his feet and sought his own removal, but Chiesa ended up at the top. # UFCFightIsland8

Tend good for Chiesa this fight. The man who wins the match in this fight will be the winner. That man is @ MikeMav22

Cheisa is a struggling crazy man. I like it so much.

Magny forces a removal in round 2 and pays for it by allowing Chiesa to get the top spot. Another round for Chiesa. 2-0.

Magny was available at +400 about 30 seconds ago. +169 and decreases.

I can not believe why these two guys do not use judo techniques. They’re both guys. As much judo as they can do @ufc

This is another reason why aggressive elbows would serve him well: Chiesa was able to ground Magny consistently in the first two rounds, but his inability to submit him ensures that the time spent on it is wasted as Magny still the fresher man – like Chiesa gets on top while I type

Magny’s decision making in this fight costs him. Had to win round 3 yet, but he refuses not to hit with the less experienced goal scorer Chiesa. 🤷🏻♂️

Michael Chiesa has never lost a game in which he scored 3 or more write-offs, a threshold he has now passed.

He’s glad he can study Chiesa in the championship rounds, but he wants to close the show off the mountain …

Too often, fighters overwhelm themselves with the “mixed” in mixed martial arts and get lost trying to do everything. Michael Chiesa knows exactly who he is and what he does. His path is clear. It can be limiting, but it can also use every action.

Chiesa is tired but on the ground he is in a state of flux

This main event really shows how skilled the top fighter jets are compared to some of the more green fighters on the roster we have seen in some of the previous games.

Michael Chiesa is doing a clinic against a difficult outcome as they come, Neil Magny. A win here would be for Chiesa 4 in a row. Another round …
