Problems on Twitter that started Friday night seem to be continuing Saturday morning. People on the east coast of the US reported that although the page was loading, they could not send tweets and DMs. As of 11:00 ET Saturday, the site was still experiencing issues for many users.
There is no official word on how widespread the outage is, but Twitter said on Saturday that it “corrects a problem with the servers.” ‘
Twitter Support posted a brief message Friday night that it was investigating the matter and updated it Saturday morning.
We know that parts of Twitter still do not work for some of you. We’re fixing a problem with our servers to get things back to normal soon. Thank you for staying with us.

There is no official word on how widespread the disruption is. Downdetector, which monitors site interruptions, showed a huge increase in problems around 8:25 p.m., Friday. Things seem to be back to normal within an hour, but on Saturday morning around 08:00 ET it again showed a small increase in the reported problems. Often these interruptions are the result of a problem with an intermediary service like Amazon Web Services, but the dashboard is green at the moment.
Twitter’s API status website has posted a message that its data team is investigating a possible system irregularity that is currently affecting all Twitter API v2 endpoints starting at 2021-04-17 12:00 UTC. The presence and extent of the developer’s impact has not yet been determined, but we’ll provide an update as soon as we know more. ”
