Twitter users are currently playing Pokémon video games “href =” https://www.videogameschronicle.com/games/pokemon/ “> Pokémon Red completely inside a user’s avatar.
Gameloft Montreal programmer Constantin Liétard has built a screenplay that changes his Twitter avatar every 15 seconds with a recording from the classic Game Boy title.
Users can control the game by responding to a Twitter thread with basic commands, such as ‘on’, ‘off’ or ‘A’, and most comments are then sent to the game each time Liétard’s avatar is updated.
So far, users have more than five thousand answers to the Twitter Pokémon Thread, which translates into real terms when they pick an appetizer Pokémon (Squirtle) and barely leave Pallet Town, the game’s appetizer, over a day’s playing time.
On Saturday, Liétard restored the game’s progress to refine its script and allow users to add commands and comments at the same time.
The Twitter game is reminiscent of the 2014 social phenomenon, Twitch Plays Pokémon, a big attempt to play Game Freak “href =” https://www.videogameschronicle.com/companies/game-freak/ “> Game Freak’s Pokémon games by analyzing commands sent by users through the channel’s chat room.
The concept was developed by an anonymous Australian programmer and launched on 12 February 2014, starting with Pokémon Red.
According to Twitch, the stream became hugely popular, reaching an average concurrent viewership of more than 80,000 viewers (by at least 10%).
A few weeks later, on March 1, the game was finally completed after more than 16 consecutive game days, with more than 1.16 million people participating and a peak of simultaneous participation of 121,000.
The Pokémon Company “href =” https://www.videogameschronicle.com/companies/the-pokemon-company/ “> The Pokémon Company recently began plucking plans to celebrate Pokémon’s 25th anniversary next year.
A group of Pikachu danced to the Pokémon theme song in Herald Square in New York in November as part of Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Following the performance, the group unveiled a large banner with the official logo for next February’s milestone birthday celebration.
“Pokémon Company International invites fans around the world to stay informed for more information on the very special upcoming celebration of Pokémon’s 25th anniversary in 2021,” the firm said in a press release.
Several Pokémon games have been released to coincide with the franchise’s 20th anniversary in 2016, including Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon for 3DS and Pokémon Go “href =” https://www.videogameschronicle.com/games / pokemon / pokemon-go / “> Pokémon Go for iOS” href = “https://www.videogameschronicle.com/platforms/mobile/ios/”> iOS and Android “href =” https: //www.videogameschronicle. com / platforms / mobile / android / “> Android.
