Earlier this week, Twitch has removed its hugely popular Pogchamp emote, used to express excitement in the chat, Ryan “Gootecks” Gutierrez, in the face of the emote, encouraged further “civil unrest” after the uprising in the Capitol building. Now, just two days later, it replaced Gutierrez’s parable with an extensive plan, that’s honest.ly, beautiful poggers.
Today on Twitter, Twitch has announced how it will handle the Pogchamp emote in future.
“You know what? In the spirit of devising 2021 together, let’s just roll with it now!” The company wrote. “Get ready for a new Pogchamp every 24 hours from 24 hours.”
Today’s Pogchamp is a combat expert Kenny “UnRoolie” McWild, who previously threw his hat in the ring to be the defacto Pogchamp replacement. Tomorrow could be anyone, but I suspect it will probably be someone else who has already posted on Twitter.
The rotating Pogchamp idea was originally proposed by longtime game personality, Sean “Day9” Plott, not long after Twitch removed the original Pogchamp emote.

It’s not hard to see why Twitch liked the idea: if he had chosen a single individual as the new face of Pogchamp, the streamer would almost certainly have had harassment and other forms of unwanted attention. This way, the Eye Of Sauron Of Harassing Dickheads should at least look around a lot instead of focusing his anger in one place. Still, it will not necessarily appear that people are running after the streamers of the day, and it offers new possibilities, such as giving Twitch the spotlight on a streamer that apparently has a problematic history. However, this is a new area, so there is nothing to know about how it will actually turn out. Perhaps this is the most important part of all.
