The self-proclaimed ‘esport missionary’, ‘DrWitnesser’, has been banned indefinitely from Twitch after numerous scandals from his efforts to preach the gospel during Fortnite Games.
White or black buttons, bright orange tie, rectangular optical frames and a well-groomed beard – DrWitnesser paints a unique picture as a Twitch streamer. And just as his facial hair is without a mustache, the game missionary proclaims a life without sin.
In the past, these efforts to spread the gospel have taken place in awkward moments with Fortnite’s younger players. In one particularly heated moment, the spreader was banned for seven days by Twitch because he told a Muslim child that he would ‘be sentenced to hell’.
Now it appears that the streaming platform has found more evidence of unpleasant behavior, which has led staff to charge an indefinite suspension against the religious streamer. In response, DrWitnesser rejected Twitch’s policy and announced a switch to YouTube.
Twitch has once again shown that they have no tolerance for a #Christelik streamer who preaches what the #Bible file. It is a biased, hypocritical organization that shifts their agenda down everyone’s throats. I’m glad I’m gone … take time to decide my next step. pic.twitter.com/jMvRyAuIbF

As reported on January 6, DrWitnesser received an indefinite ban from Twitch because he “had a hateful action against a person or a group of people”. As the platform’s message suggests, the streamer’s behavior has led to numerous violations (or one extreme violation) that run counter to Twitch’s hope that users should create a ‘friendly, positive experience’.
Although it is unclear exactly what gave rise to the ban, the evidence’s response seems to be more focused on the overarching behavior of the platform than any individual violation. In response to his suspension, he made a general criticism of the game giant: ‘It’s a biased, hypocritical organization that shoves their agenda down everyone’s throats. I’m glad I’m gone … take time to decide my next step. β
Evidence by a subsequent tweet, Witnesser did not need too much time to decide on his next move, as he quickly announced a move to YouTube.

Given the uncertainties surrounding DrWitnesser’s ban on Twitch, it remains to be seen how its content will fare on YouTube. Although no platform contains rules that specifically speak about religion, policies on harassment and abuse are likely to threaten children with eternal damnation.
At the moment, Twitch has not yet responded to the anger of the esport missionary, but we will be sure to stay informed if more information should appear.
