Twin-Supercharged Shelby Cobra 427 Super Snake goes to auction

If you like the Shelby Cobra and have a lot of money to blow on cars, we have great news. The most extreme factory-built Shelby Cobra in existence is coming up for auction.

CSX 3015 is the only surviving Cobra 427 Super Snake compiled by Shelby American. According to the Barrett-Jackson, the auction house plans to sell the car during its Scottsdale, Arizona event in March 2021. The only other example, CSX 3303, was destroyed when it was driven off a cliff into the Pacific Ocean, and the owner of it killed.

It’s easy to see why people consider the 427 Super Snake to be the best Cobra. The normal 427 cubic inch V-8, which is a little too powerful for the chassis, is equipped with none, but two Paxton Chargers in Super Snake Specification. Sending power to the rear wheels is a three-speed automatic gearbox. We’re sure it’s a handful behind the wheel. It also looks threatening.

This particular Cobra started out as a factory 427 competition model – one of 23 built in 1965 – before being transformed into a Super Snake in 1967. It remains in good original condition, with its original engine block, body panels, brake flaps, rear, and exhaust system.

The car was recently sold at auction in 2015 for $ 5.1 million. Prior to that, it changed owners in 2007 for $ 5.5 million. So if you want to get your hands on it, be prepared to save a lot of cash.
