Twin broadcaster Dick Bremer shoots back at anti-mask tweet

The longtime Minnesota Twins play-for-play commentator, Dick Bremer, has a new name these days: “The Masked Sports Announcer.”

Bremer tweeted to a Twitter user on Thursday after being criticized for wearing a mask on the air while mentioning the Twins’ spring practice game against the Boston Red Sox.

“Take off your mask from Mr. Bremer,” a user said in a tweet that has since been removed. “This garbage only ends when ordinary people decide we’ve had enough. Start with you and me. Go twin!”

Bremer, who has been calling a twin game since 1983, bounced back with his own masked debate.

“I will take off my mask if everyone who wants a vaccine gets one. Then I will be able to look into the eyes of the thousands who have lost loved ones and tell them that I have done everything. Go Twins!” He said. tweeted.

His Twitter book also reads ‘The Masked Sports Announcer’, though it is not clear if it was added after Thursday’s back-and-forth addition.

Bremer’s comments come after Texas and several other states announced they had lifted their mask mandates. Texas has the second highest number of COVID-19 cases in the US
