Tapbots today unveiled the latest version of the Tweetbot Twitter client with an entry-based payment requirement and some new design tweaks and features.
The update adds support for Twitter’s V2 API, adding interface options for polls and maps for the first time, and it adjusts the timeline and adds support for more tweet data. There are new “@” and “#” buttons when setting up a tweet, plus new app icon options and more UI themes.
With the API changes, there are no more URL shortening options and image / video upload options, and Chrome and Firefox are browser options when you open links. In the future, Tweetbot will be able to use all the features that Twitter makes available with its V2 API, and so it should no longer lag as far behind the official Twitter app in terms of functionality.
Tweetbot 6 is now a subscription program and requires a subscription fee of $ 0.99 per month or $ 5.99 per year to unlock the feature of the app. Multiple accounts, advanced filtering options, and push notifications are premium features available with a subscription. The free version of the app is read-only and cannot support tweeting.
Tweetbot 6 can be downloaded for free from the App Store, but an in-app subscription is required to access full functionality. [Direct Link]
