A television actor has been charged with several counts, including assaulting a federal law enforcement officer, during the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol building.

Fox News has obtained federal court documents identifying Luke Coffee, 41, of Dallas, Texas, as a man who used a crutch as a weapon during the January 6 riot. According to a criminal complaint filed on February 16, Coffee is charged with the following five charges: assault by the federal law enforcement officer with dangerous weapon; interference with law enforcement officers during civil disorder; obstruction of an official process; illegal access on restricted grounds and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds.

An FBI Special Agent has apparently found reason to believe that Coffee was one of the people who stormed the Capitol building on January 6 and used a crutch to assault police officers from the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington. ‘according to the court document.

“Based on the information I checked, I estimate that coffee was on the steps of the Capitol building between about 4pm and 4.30pm, specifically on the steps of the entrance of the Lower Terrace tunnel,” the special agent written.

Coffee then apparently “made a number of statements” while “turning to the crowd”, the complaint alleges. In videos of the scene, including cameras for officers, the FBI agent said he “observed that Coffee was physically contacting MPD and USCP officers.”

An FBI agent in Dallas interviewed Coffee on Jan. 13 in which he “admitted he was at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021,” according to the documents.

“Coffee told the maintenance agent that he was wearing a brown hat and holding a crutch over his head while at the Capitol,” according to the documents.

However, the former actor denied that he “involved any physical confrontation with the police in the Capitol building”, the agent said.

According to an IMDB profile for Coffee, the Texas resident played small roles in several TV shows, including “Murder Made Me Famous,” “Friday Night Lights” and “Chase.”

Coffee did not immediately return Fox News’ request for comment.
