Former President Donald Trump on Monday did not want to confirm reports that he was ready to make a social media comeback, but said he has meanwhile enjoyed more via emails than his former Twitter news.
“We have a lot of options and something will happen to social media if I want it to happen,” Trump said in an interview with Greg Kelly on Newsmax.
Trump’s senior adviser, Jason Miller, told Fox News on Sunday that “I think we’ll see President Trump return to social media with his own platform in probably two or three months.”
But Trump, who previously published newscasts 24 hours a day, insisted on Kelly that he actually enjoyed his social media to Twitter, and Facebook harassed him after the January 6 riot. He said the companies had done him a favor.
‘I have great options because you know I probably had 200 – over 200 million people if you add it all up, and that’s a lot. “These are things that set a record and suddenly they decide, it’s too many people, and that’s why they cut it off,” Trump said.
‘I do, I think, and you just hinted at it, I’m doing press releases. And honestly, they are more elegant than tweeting, as the expression goes, they are really much more elegant and the word is getting bigger. ”
Trump said e-mails “take less time. This is probably a better form and everyone is waiting for it. ‘
“You know, it works for me. “For other people, it would not work because a press release does not mean so much,” Trump added.
‘But when I release – you know when I make a press release, you see what happens. Everyone is waiting and I think I get better and more coverage with it than with tweet. And the tweeting gets you in trouble because you tweet people again, and you realize that the retweets were not so good, because the person, if you did not do research, that you tweet again is not the best. It gets you into a bit of trouble every now and then. But no, I like this better than Twitter. Actually, they did us a favor, it’s better. ‘
Trump has been asked if his next foray into social media would be with Peter Thiel, the co-founder of Paypal and early Facebook investor, who was a proponent of his 2016 campaign. He seems to be ruling it out.
“Well, Peter is a wonderful guy. He was a supporter and he is a brilliant man from Silicon Valley. And he did a great job. But no, I have great options, “Trump said.
