Trump says he doubts Biden ‘makes the decisions’, calls the border walls ‘positive step’: report

Former President Trump on Tuesday expressed his doubt that his successor will make the most decisions in the White House and experience that being president is “a lot of work”.

Trump has also responded positively to reports that the Biden government is considering resuming on the U.S.-Mexico border wall after work was initially halted.

The former president’s comments come during a telephone interview on the Newsmax network.

During the conversation, Trump expressed some good wishes to Biden, now in his third month as commander-in-chief.

“I hope he’s doing well,” Trump said. “I hope everything is physically and mentally good from that point of view.”

Continued speculation revolved around whether Biden could perform the duties of president in full. During his first news conference on March 25, Biden is seen using ‘cheatheets’ to help him answer reporters’ questions. He also experienced some obstacles as he climbed the stairs to board Air Force One for presidential flights.

Trump said the daily demands of the presidency could be difficult for anyone, not just 78-year-old Biden.

“When I say ‘full-time,’ it’s 50 hours a day,” Trump said. “It’s a lot of work.”

But the former president said it seemed to him that Biden could delegate duties to his top advisers.

“I think other people make the most decisions,” Trump said. He said many of Biden’s policies looked like ‘Bernie Sanders on steroids’, referring to the independent progressive American senator from Vermont.

Across the border wall, Trump said reports that the Biden team is considering filling in gaps along the wall are a ‘positive’ sign, if true.

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said he was considering expanding the existing wall, The Washington Times reported Monday.

Trump has expressed frustration that his government was no longer able to complete the wall due to legal entanglements.

“We would have almost finished that wall,” he said. “It has been delayed for two and a half years due to lawsuits.”

He wished the new government strength if they chose to complete the work, Trump said.

“If they’re going to finish it, it’s a great thing, it’s a very positive step,” he added.

Trump recently said he was considering a visit to the border region as both President Biden and Vice President Harris came under criticism for not having traveled there since taking office.
