Michael van der Veen, a lawyer who represented former President Trump in his second indictment, raged in a CBS News interview against the media after Trump was acquitted.

Van der Veen unjustifiably accused prosecutors of doctoring evidence in the indictment over the January 6 riot in the Capitol. “Because they did not investigate, they doctored evidence. It is absolutely shocking,” he told CBS on Saturday.

Interviewer Lana Zak tried to clarify Van der Veen’s misleading comments and asked if he was referring to ‘selective editing’ of footage from the riot and a tweet that Trump’s team claimed was shown during the trial which allegedly involved the wrong year. (The tweet in question was not actually shown during the trial.) “Is this the proven evidence you are talking about?” Ask Zak.

But Van der Veen then started teasing the media more generally. “The media is trying to divide this country,” he said. “You’re bloodthirsty for ratings,” he continues, calling the questions ‘set up’ with ‘oblique coverage’. He removed his microphone and walked away from the camera.

The Trump administration is widely acknowledged for anti-media rhetoric and statements against journalists and outlets, which label unfavorable coverage as ‘fake news’. Some sources say that Trump intends to start his own digital media network to compete with Fox News.
