Trump honors Prince Philip for embodying ‘dignity and grace’

Former President Donald Trump praised Prince Philip on Friday for embodying “dignity and mercy”, saying his “exceptional example of service, consistency and patriotism will be his greatest legacy.”

Trump and former first lady Melania Trump sent their heartfelt condolences to Queen Elizabeth II and the rest of the royal family following the death of the Duke of Edinburgh at the age of 99.

‘Prince Philip has defined British dignity and grace. “He embodied the quiet reserve, strict strength and inflexible integrity of the United Kingdom,” Trump said in a statement.

He chronicled Philip’s time in the Royal Navy and fought in World War II as a naval officer.

‘On board warships in the Mediterranean he sees battles at sea. “He then took part in the important Allied invasion of Sicily in 1943,” Trump said. “Like many of his generation, in the darkest times of Britain, he risked his life for God, country and the values ​​of freedom and self-government that united America and the United Kingdom forever.”

Trump also celebrated Philip’s 73-year marriage to Queen Elizabeth II, saying that as a man he had the same ‘sense of duty and purpose’ as in the military.

“He was admired by his fellow citizens and respected by everyone around the world,” Trump said. “His exceptional example of service, steadfastness and patriotism will be his greatest legacy.”

Trump added that he and Melania had to experience during different journeys through the dam how the monarchy carries the virtues of the British people.
