While the country awaited the outcome of Georgia’s run-off elections in Georgia, President Donald Trump erroneously suggested on Tuesday that the normal process of counting votes was a sign of fraud.

His tweet is coming as state election officials announced that there would soon be a large number of early, personal votes in Dekalb County, which includes part of Atlanta, hours after the polls closed. The votes for the Democratic candidates were expected to break heavily, and it did so according to the provincial results presented after 11pm ET.
“I happened to find another 4,000 Fulton County ballot papers. Here we go!” he later added.
Trump has repeatedly ignored the facts regarding the regular election process, falsely claiming that he was denied a second term in part due to surprising increases in votes for President-elect Joe Biden, and officials in multiple states from both political parties have tried to correct this counter information. Election results are always reported in groups, and large cities can sometimes take longer to count and report.
After the polls closed on Tuesday, election officials such as Gabriel Sterling, the implementation manager of the voting system, regularly provided information on outstanding ballots and asked for patience.
‘It’s as easy as that: counting election results is not entirely proportional. Large provinces have more ballot papers, and it often takes longer, ”said Justin Levitt, an election law expert and professor at Loyola Law School who worked on the Department of Justice during the Obama administration.
In a text, Levitt added that the wait for results was completely predictable after the nail-biting race in November: “There is NOTHING strange about waiting for the election results when the results are close.”
Trump has repeatedly and falsely claimed that Democratic cities, especially those with a large number of black voters, stole election fraud from voters, and his lawyers carried out broad conspiracy theories involving foreign communists. There is little evidence of these claims, and lawsuits over such unfounded theories have been thrown out of court after the trial.
With the races still too close to call, Trump has bolstered allies’ proposals of improperness on Twitter.
“Why are they stopping the vote count in Democrat Chatham Province, Georgia? It sounds familiar!” White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany tweeted from her personal account and deserved a retweet from the president.
Sterling tweeted an explanation.
“Chatham County did not just stop. They completed the count of everything they had. That includes election day, advanced and all the absentees they had. The last remaining is the absentee by mail that came in today. , ” he said.
Conservative commentator Tomi Lahren earned the president retweets when she said Democrats “sharpened voices from mystical places again” and later posted: “I wonder when the water pipeline in Georgia will burst …”
The reference to an interruption in the water is part of another unsettling conspiracy theory carried out by the president. There was no water outage and the polls show there were no planted ballots, as Trump has repeatedly claimed.
Both races were neck-and-neck at 12:55 on Wednesday, although Democrat Raphael Warnock led Republican Senator Kelly Loeffler, according to NBC News.
The other race is tougher, with former Republican Senator David Perdue outperforming Democrat Jon Ossoff.
