Trump declares he will not start a new party at CPAC says speculation otherwise was ‘fake news’

ORLANDO, Fla. Former President Donald Trump in his Sunday speech to the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) has clearly stated that he will not start a new political party, after speculation last month that he would be possible.

“We are not starting new parties. You know – they kept saying, ‘He’s going to start a brand new party,’ ‘Trump said. “We have the Republican Party. It’s going to be united and stronger than ever.”

The speculation that Trump is considering starting a new party began in the wake of the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol by a pro-Trump mob. Many Republicans have condemned Trump for calling a rally in Washington, DC, for the same day that Congress would confirm President Biden’s election. They also said he did not do enough to stop the crowd once the situation became dangerous.

But anger within the IDP eventually subsided and only a handful of IDP members and senators voted to accuse Trump or to convict him on the charge of inciting an uprising. When the GOP began to fully embrace Trump again, the speculation that he would start a new party was largely dead.

Nevertheless, Sunday was Trump’s most decisive statement that he was committed to the GOP.

TRUMP WEN CPAC STROW POLL PER WYE MARGIN

“I’m not starting a new party,” Trump continued. “It was fake news. False news, no. Wouldn’t that be brilliant? Let’s start a new party and let’s split our vote so you can never win. No, we’re not interested in that.”

Trump then mentioned his straw numbers at CPAC, in which he wins by a wide margin.

Trump received 55% of the vote in the poll in which he was included, with the Florida government Ron DeSantis in second place at 21%.

Trump’s approval in the straw hat was 97%, and 87% said they strongly approve of Trump’s position as president. And 68% of the people at CPAC in the straw man said Trump should serve as president again.

The straw level is not a scientific poll. CPAC advertised itself as a pro-Trump rally, meaning the self-elected crowd is likely to be more pro-Trump than the Republican Party in general. But scientific polls generally show that Trump dominates with the GOP base, albeit not to the same extent as the CPAC straw level.

In his speech, the former president also said that it would be the GOP that would fight on the left after the Democrats took over the Senate, the House and the White House.

“For the next four years, the brave Republicans in this House will be at the heart of the effort to oppose the radical Democrats, the fake news media and their toxic cancellation culture,” Trump said. “And I want you to know that I will continue to fight on your side. We will do right from the start what we did, that is to win.”

Trump’s speech is the final address of CPAC, which began Thursday night. Trump was about an hour late for the start time of his speech.

During his speech, Trump also bragged to Biden about immigration and reopening of the school, hinting that he could elect him president in 2024, and reiterating his false claims that he won the presidential election in 2020.

Trump also repeated the viral moment of a previous CPAC appearance when he embraced an American flag that was on stage. On Sunday, Trump embraced an American flag as he stepped out to deliver his address.
