“We’ve done a lot of things, and it’s all weathered now,” Trump said. “Today they come from all foreign lands. … They are dropping them off, and they are entering our land, and it is a disgrace. They are going to destroy our country if they do not do something about it. ”
The Biden government is trying to accommodate a surge of Central American minors who have arrived at the southern border to gain access to the US.
Reports indicate that the federal government now has more than 13,000 young people in custody. Many are kept in target and border protection cells (CBP) that are intended for adults longer than adults.
Democrats slammed Trump for his own handling of migrant children. Under Trump’s ‘zero tolerance’ policy, children have been separated from their parents in an effort to prevent families from crossing the border illegally. Democrats have also repeatedly criticized Trump for holding children in CBP cells where they did not have access to education, health or legal services.
The Biden White House has publicly urged migrants to stay at home and not try to enter the US. making their way through the immigration processing system.
The administration is said to be housing thousands of young people in a conference center in Dallas and 1,000 more in a tent city outside Midland, Texas, as they seek to move young people out of CBP custody.
“They are destroying our country,” Trump said Tuesday. “People come in hundreds of thousands. Young people come in, and they leave their homes, and they come up because they think it’s going to be so wonderful, and honestly our country can not handle it. It’s a crisis like we’re rarely had and certainly never will be at the border, and it’s going to get worse. … with a little time you will see the numbers expand to a level like you have never seen before. ‘
