20:49 PT A law enforcement source says Songz was arrested for trespassing, resisting arrest – both crimes – and for assaulting a police officer … a low degree of crime. We are told that he is in custody for 24 hours and will probably be released tomorrow night.
Trey Songz He took place amid a physical altercation with a police officer during the KC Chiefs game, and fans who saw it say police were completely out of line.
We got this video from Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday, which Trey and the officer initially showed in a fight. Trey connects a fist to the officer’s head, and puts him in a head latch, but then officer Trey gets stuck in a seat.
A witness tells that the whole thing started when Trey was a few rows behind him by a few fans and he asked to relax. We said the officer approached Trey and went after him without warning. The witness says Trey was caught completely off guard when the officer became physically injured, and began defending himself.
You can hear fans yelling at the officer throughout the video and telling him to leave Songz until additional officers show up. Supporters shouted that the officer should be arrested.
After the backup got there, they were able to separate Trey and the police … and they handcuffed Trey.
We are told that Trey is currently in custody, but it is unclear whether he is being booked for anything … or simply being detained.
We have reached out to his representatives … so far, no word back.
