Trevor Bauer was ready to join Mets after the brand’s fiasco: ‘I’m done’

If his agent had not been, Trevor Bauer might have been a Met.

Rachel Luba did not convince the NL Cy Young Awards winner to sign with the Dodgers, but she told him to reconsider his decision amid his frustration over goods appearing on his website early on, suggesting that he the Mets would sign.

“It’s over, I’m done,” Luba recalls Bauer telling her on the Barstool “Start 9” podcast. “Call the Dodgers, it’s done. It becomes the other team. ”

The ‘other team’ was the Mets. According to Luba, Bauer felt guilty that the merchandise was there.

“I can not do this to a fan base,” he told her. “The decision was made.”

Before Luba let him know his decision, Luba told him to take a turn and think it over and not decide based on a mistake he did not make.

When they talked ten minutes later, Bauer changed his mind. He will play for the Dodgers and sign a $ 102 million three-year deal, avoiding the offer of three-year Mets, which is possibly worth $ 105 million.

Joel Sherman, reports The Post, reported last month that the Mets believe in the last 24 hours of Bauer’s free agency that they have reached an agreement with Bauer.
