The San Francisco 49ers’ offensive tackle, Trent Williams, is just a week away from possibly becoming a free agent. Ideally, he hopes this does not happen. He would like to stay with the Niners, who traded for him during the draft last season. Head coach Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers want to keep him in the rankings. Fans want to see Williams stay, too. The veteran offensive linebacker quickly became a fan and media favorite.
Williams joined teammate Richard Sherman, who would also become a free agent The Cris Collinsworth Podcast this week. Sherman predicts Williams will stay in 2021.
“I let him stay in San Francisco for The Faithful,” Sherman said. “I think he’s staying in San Francisco. I think he’s making you happy for another five (or six) years and getting his gold jacket and deciding if he wants it in Washington or San Francisco.”
Of course, players are not inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame associated with one particular team. They are recorded as players and are associated with every team they have played with during their pro career.
As for Sherman’s prediction, Williams did not sound like he had a problem with it.
“This is not a bad thing,” the eight-time Pro Bowl suit replied. “It’s not bad. You all bark at the right tree. ‘
What about Sherman, who almost certainly will not return to the 49ers? What landing spot does Williams predict for his defensive teammate?
“I’m not going to lie, man. Rich is one of my favorite teammates I’ve ever had,” Williams said. “… I know that any locker room that is going to get him will be blessed. I would like to stay with him in the locker room because I know what he is adding to a team.
‘I think it’s going to be a win-now team, which I feel like we were in a win-now team. Rich, he’s so smart. He can do anywhere. He can fit in any locker room. He can merge with any crowd. So I do not really see any limitations with him. ‘
Williams hesitated to name potential landing sites, but eventually pointed out a few options.
“I still hope he’s back in whatever locker room I’m in,” Williams said. “… I can see [the Kansas City Chiefs], go in there and help that defensive backfield. … I would like to see him somewhere where the weather is nice, get a good salary, and the tax does not beat him.
“[The Las Vegas Raiders] sounds like a good team. I think the Indianapolis Colts. The AFC, there are a lot of good places there. As long as he does not end up in Seattle again. … I definitely do not want to see him twice a year when I’m in San Francisco. ‘

Options for the 49ers as LT Trent Williams leaves in free agency

The worst-case scenario for the 49ers during the off-season would be for All-Pro left-back Trent Williams to leave as a free agent. Last season, the team sent a third round to the Washington Football Team to acquire Williams, after which he restructured his contract to give him a small salary, and included the language in the contract stating that they would not use the franchise label on him. 2021. If we look at the hanging free agents in the packing position, it’s easy to see that Trent Williams is by far the best player available. Williams said he would like to return to the 49ers, which is good news, but he also wants to test the market to determine its value, which could be bad news. There are plenty of teams with hood space, even with a season with a hood, and a need

The San Francisco 49ers let wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders leave via free agency after concluding a mid-season deal with the Denver Broncos to acquire him. He was seen as a piece that could help lift the team to a championship, and it was very close to achieving that last year. Could the offensive approach of Trent Williams also be one-off? Last year, San Francisco traded for Williams to replace the outgoing Joe Staley and in the process give up draft capital. Williams is the most prominent name among the 49ers’ long list of menacing free agents. NFL Network’s Gregg Rosenthal recently ranked his top 101 free throws in 2021. Williams came in

The San Francisco 49ers still have exclusive bargaining rights with offensive representatives of Trent Williams. That will change on March 15, when negotiations with other teams can begin. With no new reports of any negotiations progressing with San Francisco, it sounds like Williams is staying on track for the open market. The 49ers allegedly had ‘extensive’ contract talks with Williams’ representatives before the team’s final season finale. They were hoping to avoid a situation in which the eight-time Pro Bowler even approached a free agency. That, of course, did not happen, and here we are. Williams and San Francisco have a mutual desire to stay together. Still there

Broader: The greater demand for Trent Williams could lead 49ers to set a tackle at number 12

Assuming they were planning to return to the Super Bowl last season, the San Francisco 49ers traded for offensive tackle Trent Williams to replace retiring Joe Staley. It was a good move for a team that felt it could not afford a decline in a key position in a position that would avenge the Super Bowl defeat. Upon his arrival, Williams immediately notices the difference between the 49ers neighborhood and the neighborhood he experienced in Washington. The reunion with head coach Kyle Shanahan rejuvenated the attacking linebacker, hoping he ended up in a long-term home. “I did not see this situation because I only wanted to come here for one year,” Williams
