Transferring a Marvel’s Avengers PS4 Save to PS5 Should Be Easier Than It: Eurogamer.net

The release of the next version of Marvel’s Avengers is welcome news for the game this week – but it shines a light on the rapid process of transferring savings from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5.

Marvel’s Avengers Developer Crystal Dynamics tweeted detailed instructions to help confused customers after it came to light, both the PS4 and PS5 versions of the game had to be downloaded and completely updated to get the savings transfer working, and that it was impossible to get the storage data via Transfer PlayStation Plus cloud storage.

Eurogamer news roll: has Square Enix done enough to save Marvel’s Avengers?

Here’s what you need to do: first you need to launch the full PS4 version of Marvel’s Avengers and go to the Save Migration tab in the main menu to start the upload.

Once the migration is complete, you should start the PS5 version, where you will be asked to download the data.

This is the annoying part: even if you have the PS4 and PS5 versions of the game on the same console (for a total of 120 GB), the migration of storage is required to start the save on the PS5 version.

Furthermore, you need to download the latest update for the PS4 version so that you can download the PS5 version. This means that if you do not see the version of the PS4 game that has not been updated, you will not see the Save Migration tab, and you will not be able to transfer saved data.

The result is this: do not delete the PS4 version of Marvel’s Avengers before transferring your savings to the PS5 version. After successfully entering your savings in the PS5 version, you can safely remove the PS4 version from your console.

This is a similar situation with other PS4 / PS5 games, such as Insomniac’s Spider-Man. “Just to be clear. You need to use the PS4 game to run your savings,” James Stevenson, Insomniac’s community director, said in November. “Remastered can’t see a snap before it’s run through the PS4 game. That’s the way it is.”

It’s also a bit of a hassle with Remedy’s Control. In some games, you cannot transfer PS4 storage files to PS5 at all.

Some players had trouble with the storage transfer process of Marvel’s Avengers PlayStation Store when it’s taken into use because the migration tab did not show up – something recognized by Crystal Dynamics. The developer said it now needs to be fixed and apologized for the inconvenience.

“If for some reason you’re still having problems with the migration, let us know so we’ll look into it,” the developer added.

Of course, transfers from Xbox One to Xbox Series X and S save automatically via Microsoft Smart Delivery.
