Toro recalls snow blowers due to amputation hazard

The Toro Company is recalling about 6,700 snow blowers to repair a problem that poses an amputation hazard. The recall of the defective product comes with much of the land covered with snow, including states like Texas and Georgia that usually do not see the winter weather conditions that plows and digs bring to the fore.

The Minnesota-based Bloomington company has received five reports of incidents where the torso of its Toro Max Snowthrower could not disengage when the control lever was released, according to a notice posted by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

No injuries were reported.

The recalled snow blowers were sold in Juarez, Mexico, from November 2020 to January 2021 at stores and nationwide at Home Depot, Ace Hardware and Toro, for approximately $ 1,200.

The recalled snow blowers include the model year 2021 Toro Power Max 826 OHAE Snow throwers, with the model number 37802 on the back of the product. Serial numbers included in the recall can be found on Toro’s website.

People who have purchased the snow blowers are asked not to use them and to contact a Toro dealer for free repairs. Consumers can call the company at (833) 254-8856 for free to access a 24-hour Toro dealer system, which can also be found online.
