Top Florida Dem says DeSantis lets its ‘white rich donors’ skip the COVID-19 vaccine line

Florida Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried (D) said in an interview that the Republican government Ron DeSantisRon DeSantis: Fundraising spits points on Trump GOP rift poll: 81 percent of Republican voters have a favorable view of Trump DeSantis after Biden: thought to restore COVID-19 restrictions ‘insanely’ let its “white affluent donors” skip the queue for COVID-19 vaccines.

“What we see here in our state is that the governor is benefiting his white, wealthy donors,” Fried said Friday. maintenance with MSNBC.

‘What is happening is that the governor who has never had a plan on how the vaccines would be rolled out. He therefore had the plan for a cage face and that many of the white, wealthy donors could come to the front of the queue where all of our minorities and all our authorized communities are still waiting for the vaccine, ”she added.

Fried’s allegations that DeSantis prefers the distribution of vaccines led her to ask the FBI investigation the case at the beginning of March.

The allegations arose after The Miami Herald reported that nearly all residents aged 65 and older were vaccinated in a wealthy Key Largo enclave for COVID-19 in January, and many of the residents donated to DeSantis’ governor campaign.

Although all residents were eligible for the vaccine, Fried believes the community was given preference because of their commitments.

“There are people who are more upset about me for vaccinating seniors than for other governors, whose policies have killed seniors, and that’s a joke,” DeSantis said in response to The Miami Herald.

“I’ve never seen corruption like this before,” Fried said. The alleged corruption is the reason why she believes the FBI should get involved.

But DeSantis insisted he had no involvement in helping the community mentioned in The Herald’s story get vaccinated.

“It was not a website we were involved in in the Keys,” DeSantis said. ‘It was one of the South Florida hospital systems [that] went to this community of elderly people. I think it’s great. I want seniors to get shots, I think they did it well. We were just not involved in any way, shape or form. ”
