Tony DeAngelo not in the Rangers series for match against Islanders

Rangers coach David Quinn shakes up his team after just one game.

Quinn said Tony DeAngelo will perform for the rematch against the islanders on Saturday night. The defender put together a penalty period of a third period with an unsportsmanlike conduct for a double minor in the Rangers’ 4-0 defeat against the Islanders in the garden.

DeAngelo, who signed a $ 9.6 million two-year contract in October, did not shake hands with the main group during Friday’s practice and was sent off to practice with the training group. The fifth-year NHLer, who broke out with 53 points in 68 games last season, cannot be officially assigned to the taxi group without clearing the waiver.

“If we do make changes, we can always go back,” Quinn said Saturday. ‘If they do not work, we can [go] and Plan B. ”

Quinn said last week that the Rangers spoke to DeAngelo after the defender caused a stir by deleting his Twitter account and calling the social media platform a ‘disgrace’ after President Trump was permanently banned from the site after the riots on January 6 at the US capital.

Brendan Smith will replace DeAngelo in the series against the Islanders, and forward Phil Di Giuseppe will be for Kevin Rooney, Quinn said.
